Sir J. Jordan to Sir Edward Grey.-(Received November 3.)
(No. 383.) Sir,
Peking, September 20, 1906. WITH reference to your despatch No. 254 of the 3rd ultimo, inclosing copies of correspondence with the China Association relative to the retention at Peking during the greater part of the year of the Acting Commercial Attaché, I have the honour to state that Mr. Hosie, who has for some time been engaged in preparing a statement, now nearing completion, of the foreign trade of China for the year 1905, will very soon be free to visit from time to time the chief commercial and industrial centres of China and place himself in touch with the British trading communities throughout the country.
I have, &c. (Signed) J. N. JORDAN.
